One day over lunch Sidney and Dean set out to put that dream to reality. Starting with a 38,000 original mile Chevrolet, an original survivor car in like new condition. A Modified Art Morrison chassis was used for the foundation. Winters quick change rear with custom 4 bar. Taylor made wheels 16″ and 18″ wrapped in Dunlop racing tires. Mach Development built SB2 379 cu. in. dart small block Chevy with a single Dominator 1050 cfm carb. Producing 831hp @7200 rpm. TKO 600 trans with full race clutch set up.
Car number 645 B/CGC joined the car club Side Winders and the first year out, it went 174.693 at the El Mirage dry lakes for test and tune before heading to Bonneville. It would take another 3 years before the 4500 lbs. 1955 Chevy would hit its best speed of 198.657 under owner Sidney Allen who sold the car to Bob Johnson who has since gone 203 mph. Making it the worlds fastest stock bodied 1955 Chevy on the planet.
